leading to a training contract

Paralegal – Housing Department

MTG Solicitors is a well-established High Street Firm based in Hillingdon and Ealing. The practice has four partners and we practice in number of areas of Law including Crime, Conveyancing, Housing, Personal Injury, Civil Litigation, Family and Immigration. We are LEXCEL accredited.

The Practice has grown considerably in recent years and despite the changes in legal aid funding is planning to expand further. We are pleased to announce that we currently have a full-time paralegal vacancy within our Housing department leading to a training contract.

The candidate will be based at our Ealing office and should be available to start immediately. The starting salary is £16,500.00 per annum which will increase to £20,000.00 when a training contract is given.

The ideal candidate will need-

  1. Legal experience of working in a firm and preferably within Housing law.
  2. Minimum 2:1 grade achieved in their degree.
  3. Completed the LPC.
  4. An interest in and knowledge of housing law is preferred but not essential.
  5. Excellent analytical and organisational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance.
  6. Excellent communications skills to work effectively with clients.
  7. Excellent IT Skills – familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
  8. Committed team player, self-motivated and professional.

Job Description:

  1. Managing your own busy and dynamic housing disrepair caseload.
  2. Report directly to Supervising Solicitor.
  3. Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs.
  4. Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of public and private housing cases including Homelessness, Eviction, Possession, Disrepair, Nuisance and Anti-Social behaviour matters as well as undertaking your own advocacy.
  5. Attending clients, taking instructions, dealing with correspondence and maintaining accurate time recording.
  6. Implementing any recommendations made by the Supervising Solicitor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly.
  7. Ensuring compliance with file management.

Paralegal – Crime Department

The Practice has grown considerably in recent years and despite the changes in legal aid funding is planning to expand further. We are pleased to announce that we currently have a full-time paralegal vacancy within the crime department leading to a training contract.

The candidate will be based at our Hayes office and should be available to start from 1st of February 2022.

The candidate will be working directly with the Partner of the firm and Head of Crime Department.

The starting Salary is £16,000.00 per annum which will increase to £19,122 when training contract is given. There is scope for overtime once the candidate passes or has police station accreditation.

The ideal candidate will have-

  1. Some experience of working in a busy practice;
  2. Minimum 2:1 grade achieved in their degree;
  3. Commendation/ Distinction at LPC level;
  4. Police station accreditation is preferred but not essential as we are willing to train the right candidate;
  5. Must be willing to become accredited to attend police stations in and out of office hours.;
  6. Valid full driving licence and own car (preferrable);
  7. Interest in and knowledge of criminal law is preferred but not essential as are willing to train the right candidate.
