A transfer of equity is where there is a change of ownership which usually means:

a) You wish to transfer your ownership of the property to another person; or

b) You wish to add another owner onto the property.

A transfer of equity can take place under different circumstances. Examples include:

  • Following a change of personal circumstances;
  • A means of gifting a property;
  • A more tax efficient solution.

If your transfer of equity has arisen due to your matrimonial proceedings, we will work closely with our Family department to ensure that the transfer is a fast and efficient process taking into account the family law specific requirements.

At MTG Solicitors we understand the need to have your conveyancing transaction completed as soon possible. If you already have a mortgage on your property then you cannot make any changes including adding or removing owners without their consent.
